Claim Issues: How to Void or Cancel a Claim

Note: We queue all claim submissions for one hour before sending them off. After that hour has passed, if you need to cancel/void a claim, you will want to wait until the insurance payer has fully processed the claim before doing so.


How to Void a Processed Claim

If you wish to void a previously submitted and processed claim, click the '...' menu at the top of the claim and select Void Claim.

You will prompted to confirm that you want to void the claim. After confirmation, you will be asked to include the Payer Claim Number of the original claim which you can find in the heading of the claim. If the payer didn't include a claim number on the response to the clearinghouse, you will need to contact the payer.

How to Void a Claim That Was Already Rejected or Denied

If a claim was denied or rejected by the insurance payer, it will already be open for edits and you will not see the option of Void Claim in the top right hand corner. In this situation, you will want to add the void information yourself.

To do this, navigate to the Details tab > Other > Resubmission Information > Edit. Select resubmission code 8 and then put in the payer claim number for the original reference number. If you do not have that, you can get it from an EOB or reach out to the insurance payer to obtain it.
